$6 Fun Run
Hot Fresh Coffee provided by Milton & Miles
Join us for the inaugural Rocky Mount Resolution Run. The Tar River Running Company is excited to launch a new 5k and 1 Mile Fun Run option held entirely in the parks and greenways of Rocky Mount.
ABOUT: The Resolution Run is designed to be a very low cost race option that encourages runners to start the year out on the right foot. This race will be accurately measured and chip timed, but will not load you up with lots of “race swag”. This is how we are keeping the cost low.
THE RACES: We will have both a 5k and 1-mile fun run option for runners. Both events are out-and-backs using the greenways. The 5k will also use the shoulder of Battle Park road which is a dead end road with very little traffic.
FACEBOOK: Follow the race on Facebook
THE COURSE: The 5k course will start and finish at Stith Talbert Park. The 1-mile course will have a turn-around cone manned by a volunteer. Map
MUGS: Keeping with simplicity, all runners will receive a Rocky Mount Resolution Run coffee mug instead of the traditional shirt. Because we are launching the race registration only five weeks before the actual race we do not have time to coordinate shirt sizes. We also wanted to try something a little different.
AID STATION: We will have one aid station offering only water on the course. Keep in mind the distance is only a 5k, and on January 1, it is doubtful you will be sweating too much and becoming dehydrated. If you feel you need more than this, please carry a bottle.
RACE CAP: We will only allow 150 runners in the 5k race, and this is expected to fill up quickly.
PACKET PICKUP: We will have race packets available starting at 1:00 pm the day of the race at the picnic shelter.
AWARDS: Keeping with the very low cost of this race, we have some simple (but unique) We are giving out Resolution Run bottle openers. This is more about the fun and recognition than it is about a shiny trophy. Overall Top 3 Male and Female Finishers Top 3 Male and Females in each Age Group category. Age Groups are as follows: Under 13; 13-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60+
POST RACE: We will have fresh coffee from Milton & Miles, hot chocolate, black eyed peas (good luck on New Year’s Day), cookies, and some other snacks at the finish. Keeping this a fun community event, we welcome any help from our fellow runners!
SWEETHEART 5K: Be sure to check out the Sweetheart 5k in February too!
When & Where
Tar River Running Company
Tar River Running Company. The cure for the common 5k. Or any race distance for that matter.
As a runner, you’ve come to expect certain things when you sign up for and participate in a race. Our goal is to create uniquely themed and well-organized running events that make you want to return year-after-year. Whether you come to run, walk, volunteer, or cheer on family and friends, you will be glad you did when the event ends.
The basics? Like online registration, accurate timing, a marked course, and awards. Sure. All that is there and much more. With a Tar River Running event, you can expect one of the best race experiences anywhere.
Why? Well, for starters, the organizer and race director is a runner himself. No one knows runners better than a seasoned runner. Michael Forrester has been running for over 25 years. He started Tar River Running Company because he has such a passion for the sport and wants to put on quality events for the greater North Carolina community.
With a Tar River Running event, you can expect superior communication before, during, and after each event. You can expect collaboration with sponsors to create an integrated community event. You can expect customization….custom web site, custom race bibs, custom awards, custom race swag. And you can expect to have fun.
Pleased to announce that Milton & Miles will be brewing up fresh coffee for runners on race day.
